Core Data Set
The Core Data Set (CDS) are metrics that can be used to look at quality patient care, quality work environment and best use of health resources.
The core data set metrics have been selected to capture:
1. Quality patient care
2. Demand (care required) and Capacity (staff numbers and skill mix required)
3. Quality work environment
4. Best use of health resources
Use of the CDS for better outcomes
The measures can be used to show trends and issues over time, help check the impact of changes to service delivery models and highlight best practices within an organisation.
